During the residency, I explored the relationship non-gender conforming, queer people and women share with their experience of the home by creating a digital workshop in collaboration with Amra Odbuth, a Kolkata-based association. Through this workshop, we explored together what home means in relation to our respective bodies and identity. I also explored the patua as a form of expression that can be found in the streets of the city. It's an interesting format for exchanging stories and experiences in such a public space as the city street. Each map of the participants became a patua where their impressions of the city were abstracted into a pattern that could then be re-used to tell the story in a less binary and linear way than the medium of the city map. This way, the experience of the city intertwines with it's design.
The works of the participants is exhibited in my studio space.
